Police Want to Kill Me – Senator Melaye

Dino Melaye, senator representing Kogi west, says the police want to kill him.
Speaking with journalists on Friday, Melaye said no politician has been humiliated in Nigeria like him.
The senator asked the police to release his international passport as ordered by a magistrate’s court.
“The same police have been looking for me to kill me. As I speak to you,
I have six arraignments in six different courts for one frivolous, framed-up charge or the other,” the lawmaker said.
“No politician has been so humiliated in this country. Six arraignments. One by the federal government through the office of the attorney-general of the federation and five by the Nigeria police.
“The latest was on Wednesday last week, a fresh arraignment before an FCT high court.”
Melaye said he has asked Mike Ozekhome, his counsel, to collect his passport from the police because he does not feel safe.
The senator has been accused of arming people for armed robbery and kidnapping. He is also standing trial for purportedly providing false information on an alleged assassination attempt on his life.

Friday Sani Makama is Not A Thug

Anyone who the society can survive without his or her positive contribution to the well being of the people is a thug. A thug lives a low life with an unpossesing boyish charm, always hired for violent expedition and criminality. Elder Friday Sani Makama is not a thug as the government of Governor Yahaya Bello is made to believe. If at all he is, it is an intellectual one. Because no man born of a woman is infallible. An intellectual thug uses his or her wealth of knowledge to remedy a mind disturbing problems from childhood.
From records, Friday Sani Makama has a plethora of achievements and political structure that is unmatchable as far as politics is concerned at the home front democracy. Take the indiscriminate cutting of economic trees in Odolu, Makama’s home town for instance, as a young and ebullient youth, Makama gave Hippo Nigeria Ltd, founded and managed by Adejo Obaje, a strong fight and brought the activities of the organisation to a halt till today. Because the host community were not benefiting from the proceed of the company’s activities not even a scholarship keep any developmental agenda.
Makama’s spirit of unionism and activism became and eye opener to all Igalas to stand up for their right and put a demand on it. Shortly afterwards, the sons and daughters in the land became actively involved in the felling of such trees, company process it, package it and export abroad, an opportunity that was far from their reach in the distant past.
At a time when gun politics was the other of the day, Makama was the only voice of reason that stood for the volatile, gullible and vulnerable ones. He sacrificed almost everything at his disposal to put an end to the barbaric lifestyle of hooliganism, gangsterism and government sponsored thugs. This singular act nearly rubbished his name in the mud. Makama is a man who is always against all odds especially government paid hooliganism. This forms a major part of conspiracy theory which led to the frivolous suspension meted out to him in Kogi State House Assembly.
The best way not to be dehumanized, rendered inferior, irrelevant and isolated in life is to build your world from being victimized by it and constantly open to learning. Elder Friday Sani Makama is versatile. His versatility and openness to learning has paved way for him to be a man who adds value to the society, rather than subtracting, siphoning it through fat bank accounts or merely pursuing fame.
Makama believes popularity is not a call until your calling makes you popular, hence, it is surprising, shocking and striking to hear some government functionaries like Edward Onoja calling Elder Makama a thug. Edward, whose portfolio as Chief of Staff in Kogi, is not recognized by the Constitution of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria is blackmailing a Lawmaker legitimately elected by Igalamela/Odolu Constituency on his Facebook page, branding him as a thug which can be sued for defamation of character.
The evil that men do lives after them, the good is always interred with their bone. Besides Dele Giwa of blessed memory said “no evil done to man shall go unpunished. Any evil done to man by man shall be redressed (either by man or God Himself) (emphasis mine) . if not now certainly later for the victory of evil over good is temporal”

JAMB Has Finanly Extends 2018/2019 UTME Registration

he Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) announces the extension of registration for 2018 UTME till midnight of Sunday, 11th February, 2018.

JAMB as a responsive organisation has taken the decision albeit with great hesitation to accommodate candidates who failed to register between the two months window period that ended at midnight of Tuesday, 6th February, 2018.

The failure of these candidates to register is unfortunate and the Board hastens to add that this culture of impunity will not be tolerated henceforth. Indeed penalty will be imposed for late registration from next session.

UTME candidates are therefore strongly advised to take advantage of the extension to register as request for further extension would not be entertained.

Registration for Direct Entry candidates however continues.

For emphasis, 2018 UTME registration now closes at midnight of Sunday, 11th February, 2018.

Gov. Bello, When Are You Going to Sell Kogi Revenue House?

The prodigal Governor of Kogi state is at it again. After enjoying the exciting inflow of gargantuan cash from bail out, monthly allocations, IGR and Paris club refunds, the thought of going through 2018 without such inflows must have given our Governor repeated nightmares. Now, he is showing his prodigal tendencies again with the concluded plans to sell off legacy assets of the state to himself and his cronies.
For all I care, he can sell the state assembly quarters to lawmakers who have been his loyal partners in mis-governance of Kogi state. But any attempt to touch the historic Kogi Hotels that is older than him, Confluence Beach Hotel built by late Abubakar Audu, Kogi House, Confluence Stadium, Lokoja International Market and our liaison offices in Lagos and Abuja will have dire consequences.
After reading through the list of assets this prodigal governor is bent on selling to himself and his cronies, I wonder why he did not include the recently commissioned Kogi Revenue House.
Prodigal governor, when are you going to sell the Kogi Revenue House and the new SDG office complex?
You can’t move to eliminate the projects executed by your predecessors and leave your immodest projects intact. Why are you so bent on erasing the legacy of Igalas in Kogi State? You agenda is not secret and it will boomerang soon. We will resist your evil agenda traditionally and physically.
Good people of Kogi state, we must all rise up now and halt this prodigal entities from selling off our properties to themselves.

National Assembly Election To Hold First, Presidential Holds Last – NASS Panel

THE National Assembly elections will be conducted first in 2019, the panel of the two legislative conference committee on the amendment of the Electoral Act has endorsed.

The committee also placed the governorship and state assembly elections as the second to hold while the presidential election comes last.

The committee said that the new election sequence would ensure that every candidate is elected on his own merit without riding on another person ’ s popularity .

The House of Representatives had in its amendments to the 2010 Electoral Act included section 25 (1 ) into the Act by re- ordering the sequence of the elections to start with that of the National Assembly .

The order was followed by governorship and state assembly election before the Presidential election as against earlier sequence rolled out by the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC ) last year which put Presidential and National Assembly election first before that of governorship and state assembly elections .

What Kogi Need is Federal Govt’s Socio- Economic Intervention, Not Cattle Colonies

Truly stupidity and and foolishness have taken the front seat, while wisdom and commonsense has taken the back seat under the Yahaya Bello administration.
Out of the 36 states in Nigeria plus the federal capital territory, only Kogi state has approved the forceful seizure of the peoples’ land and be used as Cattle Colonies.
One question that comes to my mind is that is it only Yahaya Bello that knows the importance of cattle colonies to their states than the other state governors or is it that the level of his political sycophancy to the Abuja cabal has led him to engage in an act capable of causing and fueling generational conflict on the people of the state?
What a shame and an act of political stupidity for a governor who cannot attract viable federal government policies and programs or infrastructural interventions for the past 23 months but only to attract the establishment of cattle colonies to the state as a second year anniversary present to the people.
This is a clear case of a governor that was not voted by the people, an Abuja based transporter who failed the APC primaries and was forced on the people via series of legal manipulation. Hence the government or governor lack and doesn’t have the feeling of pains of the people at heart. Never considered the implication of such policy as criminal as the establishment of the cattle colonies on the people, both at present and in the future, giving the antecedents of the Fulani tribe in the recent past.
State Governors who were voted by their people love their people hence have consideration for their present and futuristic plight. Hence the rejection of the cattle colonies by those governors. But ours in Kogi state just like Ajala The Pregnant Tortoise, the situation is unfortunate.
If the common sense thermometer of this Yahaya Bello and his co- pilot are functional, it should have told them that such policies with political, social, economic, traditional, custom, conflict and generational implication are supposed to be discussed on a round table with stakeholders in the various sectors of the state before decision are reached.
Imagine, less the 72 hours after announcement of the policy by the federal government, Kogi state volunteered to be the pioneering state. This alone shows that there was no iota of consultation, but a pure act of autocratic pronouncement by Yahaya Bello which has been the hall mark of his administration. The only thing that will save this administration from the impending doom that awaits it before or in 2019 is for it to appoint a Special Adviser on Human Reasoning and Common Sense.
Attract to Kogi state Federal government interventions in road construction, poverty and hunger alleviation, and capacity building programs aimed at improving the socio-economic living standards of the people, not Fulani cattle colonies.

Gov. Yahaya Bello Lied On Security Threats, Payment Of Salaries – KDG Tells

Kogi Democratic Group (KDG) has debunked Governor Yahaya Bello’s claims of stable security arrangement and up-to-date payment of workers salaries in Kogi State.
In a statement released by the group’s spokesman, Abdul Abdul, KDG said Governor Bello has perfected the art of lying by continuous mis-information.
The group, according to Abdul, found it expedient to react to the Governor’s claims that there have been no records of crimes in the state in the last 60 days. He stated that Kogi people are being kidnapped and robbed on a daily basis in the state.
“Barely two months ago, the police in Kogi on Tuesday confirmed the killing of two police officers and the abduction of an expatriate by unknown gunmen at a construction site along Obajan-Oshokoshoko-Kabba road in the state. The abducted expatriate, Mr Jose Machada, a Portuguese civil engineer, later died while in captivity.
“On November 2, 2017, the Area Superintendent of The Apostolic Church, Lokoja, Pastor Alfred Funsho Amode narrated how he escaped being kidnapped around Osara village along Lokoja-Okene highway.
“Early November, 2017, triple murder case was widely reported in Okene, Kogi State. Abdulganiyu Aduki, an artisan who was killed around 7:30pm on Tuesday, 31st October, 2017 at Nagazi in Adavi Local Government Area. His wife and daughter were also shot during the incidence. A labour leader, Mallam Abdulmumin Yaqub and his friend, Mallam Ibrahim Otaru, were gunned down at the home of the former in Ozuwaya, Bariki Ward of Okene Local Government Area around 7pm on Wednesday, 1st November, 2017.
“Also in November, the Chief Medical Director of the Federal Teaching Hospital Abakaliki, Ebonyi State, Emeka Onwe Ogah and one of his administrative officers were kidnapped in Kogi state around Ajaokuta while the CMD and the officer were returning from Abuja where they went for a meeting. Police later confirmed their release.
“In December, there were reported cases of assassination attempts on opposition party leaders in Dekina. Security threats are still on Kogi state even in Ajaokuta, a local government next to the seat of government,” he said.
Abdul said Kogi workers and pensioners have left the governor to God’s judgment for his consistent lies and misleading utterances after refusing to pay them their entitlements but resorted to payment of half salaries from one month to four months when it was owing some of them 21 to 24 months.
He said the people of Kogi did not, at any fora, endorse ‎President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term. He stated that Governor Bello made the utterances in his capacity as the chief executive of Kogi State but not reflecting the wishes of the people.
“The current administration in Kogi and Nigeria has not done anything credible to warrant people’s acceptance for re-election. The imposition of Governor Yahaya Bello on Kogi State has brought untold hardship on Kogites and by extension Nigerians.”
He urged the anti graft agency, EFCC, to look into erratic pensions and workers’ salary payment in Kogi as Governor Bello’s claim to have borrowed 10 billion Naira to pay salaries is a naked lie concocted to cover up his financial recklessness.

Am Up-To-Date In Salary Payment – Gov. Yahaya Bello boost

…Kogi state civil servants, pensioners are all happy with this administration – Gov.
Contrary to claims, Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello says his government has cleared all salary backlogs in the state. He revealed to State House correspondents that the Kogi State government cleared four months salary arrears at a stretch before Christmas.
What is the workers’ salary situation in Kogi State?
In Kogi State today we are up to date as far as salary is concerned. In the month of December, Mr. President magnanimously assisted us with another tranche of Paris Club Refund. Our own figure was N1.2 billion and some other change on top. We didn’t just stop at that, we borrowed up to N10 billion and added November/December allocation to our figures and we were able to clear four months at a stretch before Christmas and some leftovers were cleared before this January in Kogi State.
As you all know the salary was very bogus and according to the figure we had we were able to distribute it among these months. So glory to God as far as Kogi State is concerned. Moving forward from this January, we have decided that we are going to make use of our clock-in device for every civil servant in Kogi State both at local government and state levels. So that as you come to work and clock-in, that is exactly how your salary will be generated. It is online; it is automated so nobody is going to cheat anybody. That is how we are going to go in the state; so Kogi state civil servants, pensioners are all happy with this administration. Thanks to God and Mr. President for this magnanimity.
How are you facing up to security challenges in your state, especially kidnapping?
In Kogi State today we have done tremendous work as far as security generally is concerned. In the months of November, December and this January, there has not been any single case of armed robbery, kidnapping even mere stealing in Kogi State.
One attempt was made, as I speak the DSS in collaboration with army and police have apprehended a particular gang that attempted to snatch a vehicle from a citizen. The security operatives are collaborating with us, we are spending a lot on security. There is collaboration between us and the security agencies and a lot of understanding from the people in giving us a lot of information and we are treating them with utmost secrecy. We are working harmoniously together.
Let me digress a little. The Fulanis in Kogi State are equally collaborating with against the criminal elements amongst them. They are even the ones apprehending the criminal elements in their midst and handing them over to the security agencies. So we are living very harmoniously with the Fulani herdsmen, farmers and the citizens. Travelers are safe day and night because anywhere you go, you see security operatives and we have even vigilantes and hunters that are equally assisting us in our farms and so many other deserted areas. So Kogi is very safe.
What was the rationale behind giving masquerades N2 million and vehicle each that you are being criticized for?
I think I’m just hearing that for the first time. But let me just tell you that in Kogi State, first we promote culture, two we didn’t give millions to masquerades. In our culture masquerades are ancestors. I don’t know how a masquerade will go and spend money? Is it in the grave? They are supposed to be spirits and I don’t know how masquerades will spend money. There is nothing of that nature at all.
What are your thoughts on Buhari and 2019?
I’m sure you are following us as we are receiving defectors from PDP and all other political parties. And any time we hold any defection rally in any local government you will see the mammoth crowd that turns out. So Kogi State has already endorsed President Buhari for second term, we are just waiting for the time to come. You are going to see the votes that will come out of Kogi State, it will dwarf that of Katsina State I can assure you.

I Disagree That Gov. Bello’s N10b Loan Was Used For Payment Of Salaries As Claimed

With all sincerity, I hope Kogi State government will prove me wrong. I read with anger reports where Governor Yahaya Bello said he got N1.2 billion from the last tranche of Paris Club Refund. That is untrue as official reports from his government told the whole world in December that Kogi state received N6.2 billion.
According to official reports, “the state net statutory allocation for the month of November shared in December is N3,070,711,628.05. The value added tax(VAT) for the same period is N823,520,284.97.  Therefore, the net state statutory distributable income for the month of December is N3,894,231,913.02. The 21 local government areas in Kogi state received a net statutory allocation of N2,664,875,020.83 for the month of December. The Value added tax(VAT) for the same period is N564,089,140.13 Hence, the local Government areas distributable statutory allocation is N3,228,964,160.95.”
In total, Kogi State and her 21 local governments received N7,123,196,073.98 from the federation account in December 2017. Add the N6.2 billion Paris Club Refund with the alleged N1 billion monthly IGR and the questionable N10 billion loan and you will arrive at N24.3 billion in December alone!
At a recent meeting with labour leaders in the state, government said the state monthly salary total is N2.6 billion. Now, let’s look at simple arithmetic, government announced that it paid 60% salaries for four months to civil servants across board (though, majority claimed they got 50%);
Kogi State Monthly Salary Total – N2.6 billion
60% of monthly total – N1.56 billion
60% salary X 4 months = N6.24 billion
This figure is what state government needed to pay all state workers 60% salaries for four months! The Paris Club alone is enough to defray this! When then did the governor obtain extra N10billion loan???
With an announced inflow of N24.3 billion into Kogi state government coffers, if you remove N6.24 billion needed for four months salaries at 60% across board, we should have a balance of N18.06 billion. Yes, I know you paid local government workers between 40-50% salaries in December as well. Let’s say you spent N6.24 billion on local government salaries (though, we all know you didn’t spent up to that), sir, we should have a clean balance of N11.82 billion in our coffers now. This still leave us with questions on the veracity of your claims that you borrowed N10 billion to pay salaries.
I am sure the state government does not expect us to keep records of these monies when they issue official press statements announcing the inflows. Sorry, we are monitoring and keeping records. Is the state government servicing debts? Which administration plunged us into the debts and for what purpose? We are entitled to verifiable information from government.
Practically, Bello only used the Paris Club Refund for salaries. He didn’t use the N10b loan for salaries.
We demand to know what Bello used, or intend to use the N10b loan for!
