Messi, Ronaldo nominated for FIFA World footballer of the Year award


As expected Messi, Ronaldo, Gigi Buffon make the FIFA footballer of the year shortlist - FIFA's shortlist contains 24 players dominated by Real Madrid, Chelsea Juventus players - Bayern Munich's Arturo Vidal, Robert Lewandowski and AC Milan's Bonucci shortlisted FIFA has revealed its 24-man shortlist for its The Best Player of the year award headlined by Gianluigi Buffon, Lionel Messi and current champion Cristiano Ronaldo. The list includes seven Real Madrid players including the aforementioned Ronaldo, Keylor Navas, Sergio Ramos, Dani Carvajal, Marcelo, Toni Kroos, Luka Modric. Barcelona players nominated include; Luis Suarez, Messi and Andres Iniesta. Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez are also nominated. Bayern Munich s represented by Manuel Neuer, Robert Lewandowski and midfielder Arturo Vidal while Juventus stars Buffon and Dybala make the list. Former defender Leandro Bonucci now of AC Milan is also included including former Barcelona star Neymar now of PSG. Neymar is also nominated. Tottenham's Harry Kane, Chelsea's N'Golo Kante and Eden Hazard are also rewarded for their fine performances throughout the year. Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Arsenal's Alexis Sanchez are also included. Meanwhile FIFA has already already released a 12 man shortlist for the FIFA Men's Coach of the Year award. The current holder of the award is Cristiano Ronaldo. The winner will be announced on October 23 in a ceremony in London.
