Meanwhile, Danny Rose on his part has has issued an apology to Tottenham for the "ill-judged" timing and manner of his recent comments about the club. "My words were not meant to offend," said Rose in a statement released by his management company. He added: "For that I would like to apologise to the chairman, manager, my team-mates and the fans." Rose has been at Tottenham for over a decade after joining from Leeds United in July 2007. He has made 144 appearances for the club after becoming a first-team regular in 2013. Tottenham, who travel to Newcastle for their Premier League opener on Sunday, have not signed any players this summer.
